I'd like to highlight that crossplay was SUPPOSED to be used to play with your friends who owned other platforms. Now it's being used to make controller players win, and it's universal. Just about every game hands controller players cheats.
I'm fine deleting crossplay till these megacorps can figure out how to mech PC and console. But also in 2025 I feel crossplay matters way less than it used to.
Right, it's totally fine to have Crossplay be an option for Portal. However, I'm not seeing how it's needed for the base game. The player count on Steam has already proven there's a lot of interest for this type of game on the PC platform. Out of the top 10 games right now, half of them are shooter, a few of them similar enough to Battlefield that they could potentially bring over even more players.
The vibes over on Steam aren't great right now, and lot of that has to do with people getting tired of playing against legalized aim bots. All the players they gain from giving controllers all these assist, you're also losing a ton of MnK players because of it as well.
Going back to the top games on Steam, CS2 doesn't have any assist, and it's got over a million active players at this moment. There's a market for BF to exist on PC without any crossplay. Kill it.
Valorant is another popular game that's not on Steam with no assist. Huge potential there. Sometimes people want a more casual experience, and BF should be that.
