Re: Security Requirements on BF6 on PCs!

I understand that the studio and the veteran engineers expressed that this is for the better, but I just tried to go through setting it up and man is it a hassle.

People are going to get so annoyed for having to do all of this just to run BF6.

  • First check and enable TMP 2.0 in your BIOS if it's disabled (time to get familiar with your BIOS if it's your first time)
  • Then check GUID partition (set it up otherwise)
  • Then check your UEFI settings
  • Then check and disable your CSM to even reveal your secure boot option menu (at least, on my GA Aorus board)
  • Then restart to make sure CSM kicks in on your mobo and go back into BIOS
  • Then ensure User mode is enabled on your bios at the secure boot page (otherwise you might get a message about PK)
  • Then enable Secure Boot

All while also recognising that everyone has slightly different motherboards and where the settings might be.

Most of these settings aren't enabled by default in pre OR custom built rigs, and there are plenty of people who just aren't comfortable fiddling with all of this and think that it may risk them losing their system or creating more problems for themselves.

Not to mention, your mobo can sometimes reset itself and lose its settings (I've constantly lost my xpm profile for my ram speed and my TMP 2.0 setting on various reboots or crashes), so you might have to remember how to redo everything.

too all the chimpanzees saying they had to "just press 1 button": good for you. for many, they don't have that kind of luck.

i'm versed well in all of this but it wasn't that easy for me. i had to turn secure boot on, reset the platform keys, get a black screen in return, take out the cmos battery and put it back in to enable the igpu (which resets ALL of your bios settings btw, so you better remember all your overclock settings) just to see what's on my screen, fix the boot order, reset my windows password, then finally play battlefield. it's a stupid request and is gonna **bleep** over those who aren't tech savvy and wouldn't know any of the steps needed to fix it in case they ran into issues like me.

Same thing happened to me gy82ur2vcix0

I also received the black screen while messing with the bios to enable secure boot. Reset the CMOS, redid all my overclock settings but I went in to steam and just uninstalled the game. Not worth my time.
