It is fair though. Even with glint, all but other snipers can engage the sniper. What use is a small calibre inaccurate round from an smg on a sniper 500m away?
The point of glint is to give snipers actual sniper fights and to give those being camped a chance to avoid instant death if they pay attention.. So you get engagement, not just hugging a hill and pot-shotting with zero threat.
It's not a SIM, and the community has made it clear a hill-huggig camp-a-thon is NOT wanted.
But, you can make your own camp-a-thon in portal and advertise it well with fun rules. Everyone wins.
Your scenario for the most valuable use case of the recon class is for snipers to sit back and only counter-snipe each other? That is literally promoting solo play outside of objectives. You have no concept of a sniper engaging other classes that are on objective?
Like I already mentioned, if you or the devs are not creative enough to actually balance the class just cap the number of active recon users because I agree sniper lobbies are no fun, but handicapping the class is not the solution (hell just remove the class altogether if you can't balance it for its intended role)

Nobody stated value anywhere, please provide good feedback, don't strawman what others have said.
The glare gives away a position and a sniper fight may ensue, so you make your reveal take your shot and either risk staying hoping your glint was not spotted or that you are a better player and will snipe them 1st when you see their glint. "What" you were shooting at before the sniper fight is your business. 👍
