Sniper Rifle Scoping range & zoom
I'm a bit late in posting this but my sentiment is still strong for this. In playing the BF6 beta, I've really grown to dislike the overall feel of using sniper rifles for a few reasons:
Zoom accuracy:
The default scope, being a 6x scope, feels like a 4x zoom at best with how the game presents a person aiming down the scope. In previous battlefield titles (literally all of them), the scope takes up the whole screen, top to bottom. This is not the case in battlefield 6, as the scope acts similarly to an ACOG scope. Because of this difference, the zoom level of the scopes feel inaccurate. I've attached a comparison i made between a 6x scope in BF6 and a 6x scope in BF2042. In the screenshots, I'm roughly 130 meters away from an enemy combatant in BF6 and while zoomed in can barely make him out in the scope. Using a scope of the same magnification in 2042, i'm ~140 meters away from the enemy and you can clearly see the model's hat, beard, glasses, etc. It's a night and day difference in image zoom and clarity between the two screenshots. which leads me to my next point:
Zoom clarity:
While zoomed in in BF6, the sight picture we get feels cluttered and hazy. This may be a setting issue, but compared to previous BF titles its extremely difficult to clearly see targets while aiming down the scope. Add in the current state of scope glint and the player basically just has to aim for the middle of the glint and pray they're hitting what they want if they're at a distance more than 60m from their target.
Just so this isn't a completely negative experience, I do enjoy the addition of zeroing the scope for further distances, however if you cant see what you're shooting at, what's the point of trying to shoot any anything that requires the zeroing?
As a player who frequently made shots from 450-1100meters in 2042, the experience I had in BF6's beta trying to snipe at people who were merely 200m away left a bad taste in my mouth. If I have any hopes of ever seriously touching recon moving forward, the sniping feel of the game needs to be adjusted.
