Strong foundation, but please bring back features from past games

I’ve been playing the open beta for the past few days, and I think the game is on track to be great. That said, I believe it would be even better if it brought back a few features from earlier Battlefield titles.
I know Battlefield 5 wasn’t the most universally loved entry, but in my view its issues were more about marketing than game mechanics. Mechanically, bf5 made a lot of smart design choices that are worth revisiting rather than dismissing because of the game’s reputation.

Features I’d love to see return:

  1. Rebuild/Fortification mechanic
With destruction being so good in this game, the ability to rebuild fortifications would complement it perfectly. Many capture points become nearly impossible to attack or defend with infantry once cover is wiped out in the first 10 minutes (especially in Breakthrough). A rebuild system would:

    - Let teams restore basic cover after heavy shelling.
    - Give Engineers more to do than just camp and repairing/destroying vehicles.
    - Allow rebuilding static defenses like AT launchers instead of waiting for respawns.

Right now the Support’s deployable cover is helpful but too small and too easy to destroy. A fuller fortification system would deepen objective play and reduce the “spawn, kill, die, repeat” loop when the map is stripped bare.
  2. Squad score streaks (squad reinforcements)
I loved this in BF5. Earning squad points through teamplay (capturing, reviving, repairing, spotting, etc.) and spending them on call ins added meaningful tactical choices and a strong incentive to play the objective. Examples:

    - Call HE artillery to clear entrenched defenders and follow with smoke artillery to push a point.
    - Save up for a big strike (a rocket or a special vehicles) to break a stalemate on a heavily defended objective.

This system made every revive and capture feel like progress toward a concrete advantage, not just XP.

  3. More player agency in healing
While bf5s healing system was controversial, one thing it did well was let players decide when to heal quickly and get back into the fight. In the current build, taking damage often forces you to hide and wait. Consider bringing back a manual self heal gadgets (limited charges) for all class, similar to bf5’s bandage pouch or the early bf6 “stim shot” concept. This will rewarding more aggressive, team focused pushes.

  4. Stronger, more plentiful smoke for Support
For classes focused on reviving and leading pushes, smoke is essential. In bf5 you could bring multiple smokes (grenades, launcher, and even smoke artillery), which made revives more viable and less risky. Right now, without enough smoke, many players won’t risk revives, and attackers struggle on open objectives (e.g., Liberation Peak). Please consider:

    - Increasing smoke carry capacity for Support.
    - Making smoke bigger and denser .
    - Offering squad callable smoke barrages to enable coordinated assaults.

  5. Allow Recon to spawn on other squads’ deployable beacons
The deployable spawn beacon is a great gadget for breaking stalemates. In bf5  if you played Recon, you could spawn on another squad’s beacon behind enemy lines, then place your own beacon so your squadmates could join you. This created more opportunities for coordinated flanking and surprise attacks, instead of relying solely on frontal assaults.
    Bringing this back would:
    - Make the Recon role more impactful in objective play.
    - Reward smart placement of beacons across the whole team.
    - Give attackers more options for breaking through strong defenses.

Thanks for the great beta so far. Bringing back these features would deepen teamwork, add tactical variety, and make objective play more satisfying without taking away from what already works.
