Thoughts so far on the beta
Generally, I am having fun, but there are some things that I really hope reach the developers, and it seems like I am not alone in the community.
SPEED; First off is the speed of the game. It feels way too fast-paced, which leads to things feeling chaotic for the wrong reasons. Chaos in past battlefield games came from a lot going on around you, but if you slowed things down, you could usually survive. Now we have people sliding and jumping around corners and just generally encouraging a twitchy playstyle that doesn't feel fun. Past battlefields were slower and felt better. This seems like an easy fix, and again, I am not alone in this.
MAP SIZE: It seems like they went the opposite direction after 2042's giant empty maps, and made extremely claustrophobic and dense small maps. That is fine for some of them, but I hope it's not a trend. Breakthrough is by far my favorite game mode and these feel too small to really get. sense of progress across a map.
MAP DESIGN: The sectors in the two maps available are incredibly samey. In past battlefields wehn playing breakthrough, each sector was distinct and presented different challenges, while also defending or attacking a point of interest that actually made sense as a place where an army would take a stand. Here, each sector feels unremarkable, and there is no sense of accomplishment for capturing it. I felt like Pacific War in Battlefield 5 did this very well, especially the beach attack. I hope there are more big, linear, and open experiences for breakthrough and conquest. I don't know if it's too late to make major changes to these current maps, but they could definitely be more interesting. from a sector perspective.
With the limited slice we have so far, that's all i've noticed. I really hope they do listen to feedback and make some changes, because the foundation is really solid in a way that 2042 was not. Maybe they wont have to spend months fixing the servers and glitches and instead fix the maps and add more content.
