Well ... I gave it a fair shot.
I don't understand how anyone who has played BF3 or 4 could say that this game "IS BACK" or it's "BF how it used to be"? EA must've bought like tens of thousands of bot accounts that spread this info everywhere and I'm not even talking about influencers.
If I didn't know BF6 existed and someone showed me this gameplay and said "hey look at this new BF-esque update for CoD Warzone" I'd have believed them. The game just feels completely soulless, like it was made entirely by an AI.
- The guns aren't particuralry fun to play with. The shooting lacks impact and feedback.
- Intentionally releasing 3 meatgrinder maps is a joke and just there to paddle to CoD players with its never ending chaos on all maps. I strongly suspect other maps are gonna have a similar cattle herding design philosophy even if they are technically bigger (except Firestorm I guess)
- The vehicles strongly lack impact, weight and feedback. I have no Idea how a fight between me and another piece of armor is going until either they, or I, explode.
- The HUD is godawful and unintuitive. Why don't I see how many rockets I have left?
- Just about any menu is badly designed.
- Sniping is possibly the worst its ever been. Of all the things to copy from BF1 they copied that moronic "sweet spot" mechanic so you get randomly one shot to the chest.
- The movement is best described as ... strange. Neither impacful, nor floaty. I keep getting surprised how quickly enemies can close distance. I'll have a gunfight, duck into a differnt room to reload and meanwhile the same enemy i just fought across the street has covered like 30m distance and is in my building.
- Don't tell me the parachute mechanic wasn't intentionally made like that. That's literally 100% copied from CoD. Go watch a video on warzone when parachuting from a building and then look at BF6. You couldn't tell them apart if you had no background as reference.
- The "ults" or "abilities" that the classes have are bizzare and unnecessary.
- Why does every class get like 84 different gadgets. I'm walking around like in GTA with my dimensional pockets. Sniper has spawn beacon, sensor AND C4. Engi has two rocket launchers (or launcher + AT mines) AND a repair tool. Assault gets a second primary, stims AND a grenade launcher. Why should choices matter. Just take every gadget you have at once. Be prepared for long range, close range, explosives, self healing. The full deal.
- The netcode / hitreg ... oh boy. That is what reminds me of CoD the most out of everything. Randomly I'm losing and winning gunfights I absolutely shouldn't have. You shoot down a corridor that has nowhere to hide with an LMG and some enemy just walks through 10-15, clear as day, hits and one shots you with a shotgun. You'll shoot first and hit first and then all of the sudden you'll get hit 5 times in 0,1 seconds and you're dead. Now before you comment, this will NEVER get "fixed", because there is nothing to "fix". They had plenty of BF games where the hitreg / netcode was fine. They spent MONTHS fine tuning BF4 back in the day, giving us 60hz servers etc.. This is a 100% intentional decision to mask lag the same way CoD does it, hiding lag by making it seem everything is fine and dandy on your client while something entirely different is happening on the server compared to what you're seeing on your screen.
This game is like uncanny valley in BF form. At least the performance is ok.
