Regardless of the graphics settings, my FPS is limited by the CPU value, my CPU is Ryzen 7 7700X, which can handle this game without problems. But the CPU load in the game does not exceed 50%, that is, the game does not use it to its full extent. As you can see from the statistics, my video card RTX 3070Ti is capable of delivering adequate FPS, but because the game does not use the processor, I am forced to play with constant drops to 40 - 50.
Check your power plan options make sure minimum cpu usage is set to 10% or whatever you like . Mine was on 100% lowering it fixed the issue
Absolute flop of a public release. Even 2042 had a better covid launch, despite the lack of work, servers and rubber banding. 9800x3D, overclocked/undervolted, 5080 Astral OC overclocked (250/1700), 8000 M/T RAM tightened w/max refresh, GEN 4 NVME game drive, 14/11gbps OS drive, top 10% in the world with similar CPU/GPU 3D mark benches, max detail and FPS in 2042 plays flawlessly and this game goes from 44-109 in game within 1-2 seconds constantly. The game menu goes 171 to 62 fps in one second at menu. GPU drivers updated, Windows updated and BIOS. Even thought my overclocks were the problem. Reset BIOS and GPU only to see the same exact thing. With FPS ` console turned on, GPU can go from 400+ to 160fps in 1 second. CRAZY and unplayable. Why would I preorder a $70 or $100 game, despite being a Battlefield junky for years? CPU never went above 32%.
Clear the game you received on the ea app and run it on steam It'll work out
Okay, I tried changing the settings (didn’t work), I tried turning the EA overlay off and on (didn’t work), and finally I uninstalled the NVIDIA 580.88 drivers using DDU and installed the NVIDIA 577.00 drivers instead. After that, the game started working fine, giving me 80–90 FPS. The performance isn’t amazing, but it’s good enough for the beta and allows for an enjoyable experience.
It doesn't make sense. But this solved my problem. Thanks. 😄
Can be fixed by rolling back NVIDIA drivers to 577.00. But it is just a temporary hotfix. Now having not perfect but stable 100 FPS without DLSS on standard settings
I have had exactly the same issue. I have a 14900k and 4070ti but will be CPU limited regardless of what i put the graphics settings down to (even 480p) as the fps will drop to 60-70 fps every 4 ticks of the in game overlay like clockwork. These drops seems to correlate with the very spiky CPU usage as shown below. So been tearing my hair out trying everything to try and fix it will no success.
However, thanks to this thread, and i really need to thank BarbieGlamJet, its been fixed! Just turned on the EA app overlay and all solved, rock solid frame rate again. Never in a million years would i have thought of that, no idea how it could mess with the CPU... Hope it works for others (P.S. i also changed the NVIDIA driver back to 577 but didn't do anything for me).
Also helped rolling back driver to 577.00, previously was 30 FPS, now stable 80+ on same settings, 4070 mobile GPU now is loaded to 98%, previously was about 50%
Set the FPS LIMIT to between 70-83. Went from 50-60 fps to 70+! No joke
