Connection Issue when playing on the same wifi

My roommate and I have found a major connection issue when playing on the same WIFI. When I launch the game before he does, it is almost impossible for him to connect to the online services, the same thing in return for me when he launches the game first. 

It has been like this since launch which has completely offset our time when we would have liked to play together. The error code just redirects us to the same connection issue help site from EA which provides no solution to the problem. 

We both play via Steam on PC platform, if this information is important. 

Does anyone have issues with this? I believe it has something to do with two seperate accounts connecting from the same IP adress, though I am not 100% sure on this. 

Any advice would be greatly appreciated if anyone else has had the same issues as we do.
