Re: Can’t Host Anything in Portal - 'Global Game Quota Exceeded’ Error

I’ve been trying to host a Battlefield Portal server for two days straight and keep getting the same issue; I’m unable to host any experience due to what looks like a global server quota limit.

Every time I try to host, I either get a “global game quota exceeded” message, or the server just doesn’t spin up at all. When browsing the Portal server list, I can see the same thing happening across the board scores of near-empty “Breakthrough Solo Bots” servers sitting idle, taking up the available slots.

Why This Is Frustrating

Players who actually want to host proper custom games or run community events are completely locked out because the global server quota is being consumed by inactive or auto-spawned bot sessions.

It’s been like this for two days straight, and this isn’t the first time the issue has cropped up. For those of us who regularly host or manage Portal experiences for small groups or communities, it’s really killing the experience.

Suggestions

  • Prioritise player-hosted servers over inactive solo bot sessions.
  • Add a cleanup cycle for idle or empty servers that have been up for a certain time without player activity.
  • Reintroduce paid server rentals. Honestly, many of us would happily pay to host stable, persistent servers like in past Battlefield titles.
  • Shutdown solo player servers after 10 minutes (or their first match), and apply a soft ban from hosting portal matches. Simply put, end solo bot lobbies.

This game has such an awesome custom-game framework through Portal, but it’s being let down by a global server cap that leaves legitimate players unable to use the feature. Please escalate this to the live-service or backend team so we can actually enjoy the mode again.
