Artillery in Battlefield 6 is absolutely worth the effort. Dismissing it as too complex ignores the fact that Battlefield has always been about large scale combined arms warfare, not a simplified arcade shooter. Complexity is not a weakness it is what separates Battlefield from other FPS games.
Supply points in main bases are irrelevant if artillery systems have independent cooldowns, heat mechanics, or limited strike cycles. Range limits don’t defeat the purpose they ensure fair play and prevent abuse. Mobility zones don’t kill the role of artillery they force strategic placement instead of camping.
Saying that Battlefield players don’t want teamwork is wrong. The entire franchise is built on squad play, vehicles, and combined roles. Artillery would add another unique layer of strategy and immersion that no mortar or tank can replace. Without it, Battlefield 6 risks becoming repetitive and predictable.
- Sierra_SE2 months agoNew TravelerI agree that Battlefield has always been about large scale combined arms warfare, and I am extremely appreciative of that. However, I do not want Battlefield to turn into an Arma-style game (a game series I already enjoy separate from Battlefield). Supply points in main bases are relevant because of the simple reason that its a safe haven out of line of sight of the enemy team, while the artillery can still fire out from inside that safe haven and provide operational effect. Please elaborate on what you mean by "strike cycles" and "mobility zones". Where did I ever say that Battlefield players don't want teamwork? Please do not attempt to put words in my mouth. A lot of players want teamwork, but they do not want to rely on teamwork to get kills. However you feel about that statement doesn't change this fact. Artillery would add another unique layer of strategy and immersion, yes, but it'd also add a massive point of annoyance and source of friction. Say you're a recon player and you've infiltrated behind enemy lines, I'd rather not be defeated by some guy with a cursor on a map from inside their spawn where I have no chance of destroying them without again relying on external factors that I have no control over (teammates).
