Are You Sold on BF:6? Not Yet. I Need To Play/See A Large Map.

I am not a CQC guy.  Will do it if I must but I have always been a large map, armor vs armor with snipers being my least concern type of map.

I want to pre-order but.....I'm not sure yet.  Hell, I would even accept watching a video of the large maps as long as it's not one of those over hyped/rendered 30 second videos they post.

    A: NOPE! Not even close

From what has been revealed so far there are only 2 “large maps” one is firestorm which was said to be in this game the other hasn’t been leaked yet I believe. That alone won’t save this game from feeling like cod.

Where they went wrong in map design here is the maps were created and then the game modes were just dropped into the maps. Meaning there is no flow to the map itself. Flags and objectives are just placed around the map with no rhyme or reason. They just sprinkled them around as if to say this is what you asked for now hush.

Battlefield bad company 2 & battlefield 3 the maps were specifically designed for rush and then the maps were expanded to fit the other game modes. Meaning when you destroyed a building it gave you an advantage to capture or defend a point. When you littered a road with A/T mines you slowed the vehicles down and created ambush locations for the infantry. When you pushed a team back from an Mcom they had a location to group up and try to push back. Creating that constant power struggle and close gameplay. THIS IS PEAK BATTLEFIELD! Your choices mattered, positioning was strategic and methodical. The maps created opportunities and also took them away. The map was as much of a character in the game as the players. It was a living breathing environment that could be swayed one way or another.

This is NOT what we have in cod field 6. Everything feels out of place. While we have destruction it’s mostly pointless and just for effect. A placebo if you will, yes it’s there but it’s not really doing anything to turn the tide or create a significant enough of a change in the mode your playing. The game modes feel like an after thought and not the main part of the experience. It’s missing those key elements.

so for me NO, this game isn’t battlefield and it’s a shame that the game we grew to love as kids seems to be a distant memory.

Yeah, Rush mode is a cluster @)% from what I have played.

They wasted the Portal system in 2042.  So many great maps that were forgotten.  Firestorm has been a favorte of mine but I really miss BC2's Panama Canal and BF:4's Dragon Valley.

I like what I played, but I am 100% against any and all pre-orders [have been for over a decade], so will wait for launch

  • I'm leaning towards either buying or subbing to ea play pro.

The things that are in the back of mind causing worry are the slides and bunny hopping, weak explosives, auto spotting and the half measure takedown system.

I don't mind some cqc maps, it mixes it up sometimes.
