Are you still using DMRs? SVK lost its 2‑shot identity after limb damage changes

Personally, I feel that DMRs could still have a place if they had reliable accuracy like sniper rifles. But right now, every DMR — not just SVK — suffers from bullet spread even while ADS, so aiming for the chest often results in hitting the arms instead.

I tested this in the firing range portal, and even the GRT‑CPS, which has one of the highest precision stats, starts to spread like SVK once the distance increases. I was hoping that a higher precision value would mean only a tiny amount of spread, or at least a lower frequency of random deviation, but in practice there’s almost no meaningful difference. It really feels like “precision 100” versus “everything else.”

Maybe people don’t use M39, SVDM, or GRT at extreme ranges, but the increased chance of random arm shots means you often need one extra bullet — and that happens a lot more now.

With the current game system, I honestly feel that DMRs didn’t need limb damage at all. What do you all think?

Like the guy below (I'm not gonna write that name), it's an identity crisis. But I disagree that removing limb damage would make any difference.

For me the core issue is how much space is being eaten by still way too precise full auto weapons. DMRs are not meant to be used at extreme ranges, they're more of a 60 -120m type of gun. But there are still way too many automatics that work well at those ranges: the KTS, the RPK74, the EF88, the AK205... Heck, if you're good at tap firing, half the guns in this game will do the work a DMR does.

I still use the SVK when I'm playing assault, with something like a BROD or a TR7 for the main gun. Frankly, limb damage hasn't bothered me in the least for my case usage. But since release I've never seen the advantages of using any other DMR. For me the change has to come from below, not making the DMRs more effective further - they'd just eat in into the sniper space - but get the other guns to work less beyond 80m.

  • I quit using DMRs. They are not fun anymore in my experience. I have the SVK past lv50, but now its just gathering dust.

DMRs have a indentity crisis in this game. They sit between snipers and the automatics, turning out to be a bad compromise of both and always outclassed by both, never satisfying to use imo. They offer nothing unique and the limb damage only dragged them down further.

Removing the limbdamage model for DMRs would give reason to play them again, offer something different compared to the other weapon options out there.
