Personally did the jeep trick countless of times, the radius is in fact smaller but it makes complete sense you can't realistically destroy a tank with C4 without sticking it.
its not fun and very upsetting. If im able to drive a vehicle with explosives on it up to your tank and blow it up it should destroy it as long as its right next to it. On top of that 3 c4 charges dont blow up a heavy tank unless at least one is on the back of the tank. This is also upsetting when you as a player are able to sneak up on a tank place all your c4 and not destroy the tank when you detonate. It needs a buff
