I’m really enjoying Season 3 overall and I truly believe Battlefield is moving in the right direction, even if there’s still a bit of work left to do in some areas.
For ground vehicles, I already like the new driving mechanics much more. Vehicle handling now feels a lot closer to BF3 and BF4, and that’s a very positive change in my opinion.
As for Railway to Golmud, I think the map is fantastic. You can clearly tell that a lot of effort went into preserving the BF4 identity of the map while still adapting it properly for a modern Battlefield experience. Congratulations to the team on that because it was very well done.
I also really like the train and dynamic map elements. Features like that make maps feel more alive and immersive, and I honestly think Battlefield should include more dynamic events like this on future maps.
The only area where I personally enjoy Golmud less is Squad Deathmatch. In that mode the map feels much too large for the player count, which can create long periods without action.
For Rush, I understand that Golmud is meant to be a vehicle-focused map, but I feel there are slightly too many vehicles available for that specific mode. I think reducing them just a little would improve the pacing.
Regarding weapons, I don’t really have major complaints except for the weapon point system. With more and more attachments being added, some tactical builds become difficult or impossible to make because certain attachments cost too many points despite not being particularly overpowered. I think this system should eventually be reviewed.
Another issue I noticed with the arrival of larger maps and heavier vehicle gameplay is infantry survivability against vehicles. On maps like Golmud Railway, some classes have absolutely no way to defend themselves against vehicles. I’m not even talking about destroying them — some classes don’t even have access to tools that can deal light damage or temporarily pressure vehicles.
Because of this, players are naturally pushed toward Engineer or Recon on these larger vehicle-heavy maps, since Assault and Support often cannot do much against armor.
In my opinion, one possible solution would be to eventually bring C4 back to the Support class and give Assault a grenade launcher capable of dealing light vehicle damage. That would at least give those classes a chance to defend themselves or support teammates against vehicles.
I also think it would be beneficial to make all grenade types available to every class again, similar to older Battlefield titles. This would give players more tactical freedom and allow all classes to access tools like anti-vehicle grenades or smoke grenades depending on the situation.
