I remember enjoying Commander Mode in BF 2142 because I felt like I was helping out the team by dropping supplies precisely where they were needed as the battle advanced, and doing other tasks.
Also, it may be why I began to realize that while Recon sniping is fun, playing Engineer or Support tends to contribute more to teamplay, while Assault is where the action is and is more suited for the younger and highly coordinated players.
(Although, dosing myself with double-strong dark roast coffee tends to help me out quite a bit at my age!)
