Yup & I see it all the time. My team will have a 300-400 ticket lead on conquest for example. We own at least 4 out of 6 flags for the majority of the 30 minute round. Then suddenly when the match reaches 800 vs them 400 tickets. They grab 4 out of 6 flags for 5 minutes. Next thing you know the game score is 300-300. Suddenly we start losing tickets by the dozens every second. While their team loses less than a ticket every 5 seconds.
The game puts this dynamic in the game on purpose. It’s call EOMM ( Engagement Optimized Match Making) When the winning team is winning the times are good. The moment the winning team loses the momentum even for a few minutes they start bleeding tickets at triple the rate of the losing team. The losing team that managed to gain the momentum in the last 5 minutes now starts bleeding tickets three times less.
So at the conclusion of the game both teams are down to their last 50 tickets fighting over the last flag in the middle. Games feel intense this way & like hard fought victories for both teams. Even though in reality one team steamrolled the other for half and hour. The engagement or adrenaline from the close match was artificially created by the games algorithm to create a so called thrilling experience. Now the team that lost will say to themselves ah that was a close match I’ll try again next match, instead of sqrew this & quitting the game.
