Bot/Portal xp reduction

I’ve been seeing posts on r/battlefieldportal mentioning a huge reduction in bot xp gain. I haven’t been able to see this for myself but if this is true this was an AWFUL idea. Players like me who prefer to play against bots than other players shouldn’t be penalised because of others on xp farm servers. I believe the solution would be to simply add a full xp solo/co-op mode which shouldn’t be an issue since it was literally a mode in the previous game. If EA and DICE can’t pull it together and just not screw over PvE players for once I may just honestly quit the game which would be a shame because when I was able to play it was honestly so much fun, until then it’s back to 2042 I guess.

Update: I was gonna test this out and see for myself but I still cannot get into any portal games so if this was supposed to do anything about that issue, it hasn’t.

  • They should give solo/coop vs bots with everything already unlocked and its own rank system.

That way you can play against bots stress free, no worrying about unlocks or anything and it gives online progression its integrity.

If you want to progress your online career then you can play online.

Ignore 2042 it was a failure, the least battlefield game in decades, this isn't 2042 and people need to stop complaining about that.

  • I think they should separate PvE and PvP player progression. You have one character that you use for PvE and get full progression when playing on non-bot servers and another character that you use for PvE with full progression.

Spanky668 If they could pull it off I would definitely be cool with that, I have no intention of playing in public games anyway.

  • Too many **bleep** hackers and cheaters. I think back in BF4, and I know with Bad Company 2, you could rent BF servers and admin your own servers. I did that so that I could play with other random folks and bots. Then I could permaban them when they cheated, and boy did I do a lot of permabanning. They just need to bring back the local server option that was present in the BF1 - 3 and Vietnam. You run your own, invite who you want and have fun with bots and buddies

  • For me the biggest weakness of this franchise has always been the chore of unlocking (gameplay not skins) upgrades for guns and vehicles.

If you want to make enabled bots make the server worthless, then you will end up up with the same situation as in 2042 with the only active bot-less servers being populated by weirdos who like "hardcore"

  • Just like 2042 this was bull**bleep**. Portal xp specifically weapon xp is like 10xp per kill now. On to other games.

Statement below meant nothing just a ploy to get PvE players to buy the game and change it a week later. This was taken straight from their blog post.

"Community Experiences in Portal, grant full XP towards this robust progression system, with XP Boosts available throughout various challenges and other opportunities to come."

  • This is a really weird way of tackling the issue...which is that the challenge system is completely nuts. 10k hip fire damage? Really? LMGs aren't supposed to be in CQC...their bloom and recoil is off the charts...hip fire only works in panic situations or vs bots...

Personally I would have brough back solo/co-op vs AI with full progression and clamped down on AFK/XP farm lobbies by not making them possible...I mean literally, if you join any of these maps they're purposely bugged so there's no ticket count and some of them turn into a bunch of dudes spawn camping and blasting the crap out of a single area until time limit hits.

These kinds of maps should be easy to clamp down on with minimal collateral damage.
