Bring in Legacy Maps please!

With the launch of season two and the introduction of the contamination map, there is a reinvigorated desire to have more maps that are based on previous BF games. BF 2042 had the right idea in bringing in some maps from classic BF games, but it came short of updating the maps to better fit the style and gameplay of 2042. They also fell short of bringing in other classic maps that would really benefit the game. BF6 should bring in classic maps from each game and put them in standard rotation!!! Siege of Shanghai, Operation Locker, Operation Metro, etc., are all maps that, if updated to fit the gameplay of BF6, would be very beneficial in driving the long-term player count and interest in the game. Yes, these maps can be reimagined and made through the map builder, but they are hard to find and cannot be tossed into standard map rotation (where most of the player base exists). Yes, this would take more time, yes, this would affect other content that is being produced, but the longevity of a pretty solid game is at risk. If there is ONE thing that BF6 can learn from COD, it is the publishing of legacy maps from most of the previous Zombies maps for Black Ops 3.

  • Visibleartist78 I completely agree with you. Battlefield has a huge legacy of iconic maps, and bringing them back in the official rotation would be a great way to strengthen the game over time.

Honestly, I think the ideal approach would be to include at least one remastered map every season. It would help bring veteran players back while also keeping them engaged long term. At the same time, it would allow newer players who weren’t around during earlier Battlefield titles to experience some of the most iconic maps in the franchise.

Maps like Siege of Shanghai, Operation Locker, or Operation Metro are part of what made Battlefield so memorable, and seeing them properly updated for BF6’s gameplay would be a great way to celebrate the series’ history while keeping the game fresh.

The game needs more maps for sure, but let them make something new. Regurgitating the same old crap again and again is a sign of creative death. The new map is great and a huge step in right direction. Just let them keep it that way. And NO METRO. There's more than enough maps for stupid grind as it is.

F1sherOrigin I agree that the game definitely needs more new maps, and I also think it’s important for the developers to keep creating fresh environments like the new one we just got.

That being said, I also think there’s room for classic maps from time to time. Some maps from previous Battlefield games have already proven how good they are for gameplay and player enjoyment, so bringing a few of them back occasionally can be a good thing.

As for Metro, I personally don’t agree that it’s a bad map. I think it’s an excellent map, but of course everyone has their own preferences. However, I do agree that right now might not be the best timing for maps like Metro or Locker. At the moment, BF6 could really benefit from more large-scale maps.

If they were to remaster some older maps, the ideal approach for now would probably be to focus on larger maps first, and maybe later introduce tighter infantry-focused maps like Metro or Locker once the overall map pool is more balanced.
