Character Customization

Hoping to get more clarification if Nato Support class characters will be gender locked to all female. Will the future battle passes be introducing more "characters" for the classes or will they only be providing skins for the existing characters?

I would have liked EA to have given us even just a basic characters creation system, even as basic as Helldivers 2 where you just pick body type 1/ 2 and voice 1/ 2/ 3/ 4. However we are past that now that the game is released. 

I get this isn't an important issue for most gamers, and I do not mind having female characters in the game. 

I am only looking for clarification on what EA's plan is moving forward regarding the characters "skins" and if new "characters" will become available.
