Cold Take: Class Assignments are Objective Unfriendly

Nope, I don't care what the unemployed audience have to say, its not a "skill-issue" or a "wagie problem", all of the class questlines are unfriendly to objectives which affects gameplay while progressing through assignments due to it forcing people to play a certain way all whilst not contributing towards the objective. I'm aware there is a plethora of gameplay issues with Battlefield 6 (such as certain weapons categories not having specialist advantages, or not being able to ping enemies while downed.) So lets break it down by class shall we? Also before we begin if you resonate with any of these complaints, please leave a like and/or comment so EA can see this!

Assault: 

- Forcing the player to rush blindly into enemy territory without supporting squadmates and likely getting gunned down in the process. |Adrenaline injector kills|.
- Forces the player to choose concussion grenades instead of area of denial frag grenades |Kills or assists on concussed enemies|.
- Forces the player choose less effective ammunition FOR THEIR ARGUABLY MAIN GADGET (shotgun) |Incen round damage|.
- Forces the player choose a double offense gadget rather than the ladder |Kills or assists with grenade launcher|.
- Forces the player to be aggressive, likely getting gunned down in (most likely) massive game modes that require teamwork and limited deaths (I.E. Rush) |30 kills in 15 minutes|.

Engineer:

- Forces the player to make an arbitrary change to their rpg gadget (seriously, why cant it be a normal launcher?) to target aircraft instead of being versatile |Deal damage to aircraft with AA|.
- Forces the player to find a specific vehicle that only unemployed people have to target instead of a threat to the objective |Lock-on AND laser designated vehicle damage|
- Forces the player sit on the friendly tank the entire game instead of laying mines or destroying enemy vehicles |6,000 repair in a single match|

Support (My Main):

- Forces the player to lay medbags on people far from danger (as you have to stand on it for several seconds to heal from it) instead of resupplying ammo for objective carriers all wilst being set at a ridiculous 5000 HP amount (meaning you need atleast 51 1hp soldiers to stand on your bag consistently, because there is no other method of healing teammates.) |Heal teammates with support for 5000 Hp|
- Forces the player to spam deployable cover whenever they get it rather than tactical areas of the map |Deploy cover 25 times|
- Forces the player to pick the grenade intercept system instead of arguably better, power-creeped gadgets in a game where grenades are only thrown on objectives for area denial (also not cross levelling with missile intercept system is wild) |Intercept 100 projectiles with a grenade intercept system|
- I would beat a dead horse with the supply pouch, but the very first assignment makes it look like look like childsplay |Resupply 200 teammates with the (single use) supply pouch|
- Forces the player to revive 75 teammates in one match? Wait... Seriously? Its possible, but its a kick in the nuts and would likely burn the player out of Rush/team based objectives for awhile. |Revive 75 teammates as support in a single match|

Recon:

- Forces the player to assume the enemy is dumb and will hit their decoys |Trick enemies into hitting 30 sniper decoys|
-  Forces the "long-range support class" into harms way by making them track enemy vehicles (I suppose they can also throw it on friendly/empty vehicles, however it still takes time away from getting setup in their spot and would be entirely pointless) |Mark 25 vehicles with the tracer dart|
- Forces the player to tag but not fully kill the enemy, and watching them instead of being useful in any capacity towards the objective |Laser designate targets that sustain damage, for 2000 hp|
- Forces the player to get 200 meter longshot HEADSHOTS in a single match 10 times |its as ridiculous as what I just said|

Before you say anything, I love this game and I want it to improve, and if its only possible for unemployed streamers to get these unlocks, then the devs at Battlefield 6 are no better than what damages Activision has done to the FPS franchise. Some suggestions to this system is to lower the threshold for most of these missions, It'd be alot more manageable for a player to get 3, 200 meter headshots in a single game then 10, or add additional methods of getting score, such as an alternative method of healing for support. I appreciate the time you took out of your day to understand my position on how unfair class objectives can be not only to objective games but to the entire player base as well, thank you for reading this far, and please get this to some eyes at EA.

  • I can agree with everything you posted. I would say some areas are worst in the overall balance but yes, you are dead on issues regarding the progression system and what each class is expected to do.

    Thank you for this, I just needed to confirm I wasn't crazy in terms of how much you need to do just to unlock a few items for your class! You're a legend man.
