I appreciate female characters in games in general and choose to play as them sometimes in games like helldivers or COD. It seems they’re part of BF6 more for the purpose of inclusivity. I know BF6 isn’t a realistic shooter, but it seems the developers pay careful attention to aesthetic details, having visuals and audio be as close to real-world as possible. Our character genders really are just another aesthetic choice, but this one much less believable considering the extremely low rate of female combatants today.
I’ll buy the game if I can toggle female characters off, their ratio to male characters is reduced to 1:100, or they’re removed.
Alternatively, contextualizing them would be appealing as well. If one playable faction were the IDF and 1/5 avatars were female, that would make total sense to me. I’m sure that’s a much less likely outcome for this game but am raising to give a better idea where I’m coming from.
Female playable characters a good choice in some games, but not a modern-day shooter, at least not at the ratio we saw in the beta.
