If they keep the change, I will refund it. That's not just betrayal—that's a SCAM!

I was a deluxe edition pre-order player who paid extra specifically to stand out as a premium customer. If the rewards are this pathetic, why wouldn’t I just wait and buy skins later that I actually consider worthwhile? What’s even the difference between what I got and the standard edition now? Tell me—what’s the reason for me to purchase this? Should I just wait for a discount instead?

This is a lie, this is a betrayal, they have failed to live up to our trust and expectations!

Well, they wrote at least on some of the promo images for the pre-orders that: "Items for illustrative purposes only, visuals subject to change.", so I am not surprised as changes were expected. But also, I am not complaining, because I like the final visuals more than the first illustration as they feel a bit more down to earth with less red elements (not that they are that much different though). :)

I fail to see a major difference. Is it just the more muted reds?

If you are a rational consumer, it is obviously a wise decision to wait for the discount before making a purchase.

Thank you for your rational reply. Of course, everyone has their own preferences, which is completely understandable. However, in essence, since players who choose to pre-order the Phantom Edition are doing so for the rewards of that edition, DICE should try to provide them with what they want, shouldn't they? If there are some voices expressing dislike for this skin, they can always choose to buy the standard version and use the saved money to purchase other skins that will be available in the shop later, right? :)

Yes, they certainly should show what is sold exactly right from the start, so they won't need any disclaimer and their customers will get a clear idea of what they are buying, without any doubts. It's likely that some refunds will happen, so in the end this step cost them a bit of sales and a bit of customers' good will. Not the best outcome, although I guess its impact will be very minor, even negligible, compared to a total number of pre-orders.

The game is going to get patched so hard in the first few months that the skins are going the least of the problems.

The muted reds could also just be a difference in lighting conditions.
