Head bobbing and camera shake causing nausea

I wanted to ask if there have been any discussions or plans to introduce additional options to disable head bobbing and camera shake in the future.

After playing for several evenings, I’ve found that I start to experience nausea and motion sickness not long after starting a session. I believe this is caused by the excessive head movement when moving/running and camera twisting, especially during actions like reloading. While I understand these effects are intended to enhance realism, for some players—myself included—they can make the game difficult or even impossible to play for extended periods.

It feels unusual that these visual effects can’t be fully disabled. I would greatly appreciate if there could be an option to turn them off completely in a future update.

You have both options in graphical settings and can be turned off/reduced to an insignificant amount.

Thanks for your reply. From the very first time I played, I set everything in the camera settings to “Off,” except for “Head Bobbing Reduction,” which is set to “On.” However, I still don’t understand why we can't have the option to disable head bobbing completely and reduce the minimum camera shake amount from 50 to 0.

The issue is that even with all camera effects turned off, there’s still enough head bobbing to make me feel motion sick. I understand that this might not be noticeable to people who aren’t sensitive to motion, but I don’t see why there needs to be any head bobbing for immersion wise and additional camera shake during actions like reloading, and why players can’t completely disable head bobbing/camera shake.

You can actually see the camera shake and head bobbing clearly if you go to the practice range, run around a bit, and reload — it’s subtle, but definitely there. I get there needs to be modern immersion aspects, but having these pseudo movement shakes etc isn't it for me. Need to stop playing until/hopefully there is a config or in-game fix.

Try increasing the FOV as well. 2042 and BF6 use two different ways of measuring it, so the values aren't the same between the games. In 2042 I used 100, in BF6 I use 110, and it's still less than 2042. It should help a little.

Thanks I have been using a higher FOV also, currently trying with 105-120. Might help a little but still the main issue for me is the constant movement/camera shake. Just wish for an option to disable the bobbing+camera shake.

Seconded.  All options I could find to reduce head sway or bob really aren't super effective.  The settings don't affect things like getting up from prone, vaulting walls, and of all things we need a bob/sway when reloading?  I've played every single Battlefield and I get that it takes a bit to get used to the screen dynamics, but I don't understand the need to reinvent the wheel every time when it comes to the FPV motion of the player when moving.  This is the only BF that makes me screensick after playing for a while.

Thanks, Ympakt, for your input. I’m both glad and sad to hear that you’ve had the same experience as I have. I’ve played previous Battlefield titles as well, and I have thousands of hours in other FPS games — from Quake to Overwatch and many more. No other game has ever given me migraines or nausea.

With Battlefield 6, though, I start feeling nauseous almost immediately after I begin playing. It’s clearly caused by the excessive camera shake during reloading, vaulting, and the constant subtle head bobbing.

I really wish there were a complete option to turn all of that off. I simply can’t play the game unless the developers add such a setting. It’s just a matter of preference, like FOV or sensitivity — nothing game-breaking, and something that should be easy to include in a future update.

  • I played BF6 just one evening and experienced indeed nausea. I hope EA comes with some options to counter this. Played multiple versions of Battlefield, COD's etc etc on XBOX and TV. Only had this with DOOM on the PC , but that was in friggin'  1995.
    Please help

Thanks for your reply, seems like there are quite many that indeed gets nausea from the camera shake/head bobbing. Would be nice if developers would understand this, it's like with other settings also.

  • This is a major accessibility issue, which has not been a problem in any of the prior Battlefields.

Please fix this, or I'll have to refund the game - it just simply makes me feel sick!
