HQ AA problems including with the upcoming Golmud update
In a recent dev blog about Golmud, HQ camping was stated as being a problem players were experiencing, this is still true in almost all maps. However it fails to address the more prevalent issue of spawn camping or base HQ vehicle theft by the enemy team.
“The AA system was fine tuned to only protect player and vehicle spawns not stretching out more than 95 meters from the turret,” Grepl-Malmgren said. “This was from observations and worries players had: you could camp in spawn protected from the AA. Now it still will protect against aircraft coming close, but the missile stopping distances are separate.”
It's simple, if you're inside your HQ and not near the boundary zone, NO ENEMY PROJECTILES SHOULD BE ABLE to travel through. And I mean deep within the HQ, such as near an airfield.
Furthermore, ALL VEHICLES NEED TO BE MARKED AS ALLY upon re-spawning to prevent enemies from hijacking vehicles.
I would say another solution would be to just prevent vehicles from firing within the HQ boundary itself, but that would introduce other problems particularly if the enemy aircraft is camping the spawn and both the mobile and HQ AA is not doing what it is supposed to do.
And then there's the stationary AA's that shoot into HQs, such as the stationary AA on Contaminated's central outside objective and on New Sobek City. It's almost as though NO ONE play-tested the maps and nobody saw anything wrong with a stationary AA that can shoot directly into the enemy base where aircraft spawn.
Ultimately, something needs to be changed for all AAs and a quality pass needs to be done, because it does not make sense to be chased across the map in a Blackhawk by an Attack heli, to then land next to base AA to heal, only for the Attack heli to destroy the Blackhawk and fly away unscathed FROM THE ENEMY HQ AA.
I also want the muzzle flash to be greatly reduced on the mobile AA and for the 3rd Person Camera on all vehicles to be improved when aiming up.
