Jets and choppers overpowered
Jets and choppers are overpowered relative to infantry counterplay
Air vehicles are dominating games disproportionately to the skill and risk involved in flying them. Specific issues:
- RPGs should be a real threat to choppers: a direct hit from an RPG should be a one-shot kill (or close to it), like real life. Landing an RPG hit on a moving chopper is already difficult — it requires good aim, positioning, and timing. If you land the hit, it should matter. Right now most choppers can take a direct hit and just fly off, which makes the "hard shot for a fair reward" tradeoff pointless.
- Weak AA options generally: lock-on launchers have too short a range/lock time and don't threaten a competent pilot.
- Repair/damage imbalance: vehicles regen or get repaired faster than infantry can realistically punish them.
- Spawn-camping: jets/choppers strafing spawns removes any real counterplay.
- Skill vs reward mismatch: a decent pilot racks up kills far faster and more safely than an infantry player of equivalent skill.
Suggested fixes:
- Direct RPG hits do lethal or near-lethal damage to choppers
- Increase AA lock-on range/damage, or reduce launcher cooldown
- Better flare/countermeasure counterplay windows for infantry
- Damage falloff the longer a vehicle stays airborne uncontested, to discourage camping the skies
