Keep Squad Deathmatch Permanent: Feedback on rotating core game modes
I wanted to share some feedback about the decision to rotate game modes like Squad Deathmatch instead of keeping them permanently available.
Squad Deathmatch is my favorite mode in Battlefield, and removing it from the permanent playlist genuinely changes how often I want to play the game. It’s the perfect mode for players who don’t always have 30–45 minutes to commit to larger game modes. Sometimes I only have 10–15 minutes, and Squad Deathmatch lets me jump in, have a complete match, and log off feeling like I got to enjoy Battlefield.
It’s also the mode I use to warm up before playing Conquest, Rush, Breakthrough, or other larger modes. Because of that, it actually encourages me to play more of the rest of the game—not less.
I understand wanting to keep playlists fresh, but rotating core game modes takes away player choice. If a mode has a dedicated community, those players shouldn’t have to wait weeks or months for the chance to play it again. Giving players fewer ways to enjoy the game doesn’t make the experience feel fresh—it makes it feel more restrictive.
I’m someone who enjoys all of Battlefield’s modes, but Squad Deathmatch is the one that keeps me coming back day after day. If it isn’t consistently available, I’ll honestly be much less likely to launch Battlefield at all, and I’ll probably end up spending my time on another FPS that lets me play the mode I enjoy most.
Please reconsider making Squad Deathmatch a permanent playlist. It serves a different purpose than the larger objective modes, and for many players it’s the perfect quick match, warm-up mode, or way to enjoy Battlefield when time is limited.
