No more unique guns?

What i loved in BF2042 (yeah hate me for that) that most guns had unique features. they had attachments what other guns didn't in the same category or had traits other guns didn't have in the same category. Here.....every gun has the same attachments and almost the same stats across their categories. What's the point in unlocking guns?
