You and I know online gaming cost extra, however someone that hasn’t been gaming in over ten years might not know this.

Oh, it's tagged as playstation. Didn't see the tag.

Doesn't everyone on xbox and playstation already know that online capability costs extra? That's not really a function of the game.

Gamewise, what we both said are plausible explanations to a non-specific question.

No, you don't have to pay more for multiplayer.

Wrong! You’ll need a (paid) PlayStation Plus subscription to play BF6 multiplayer. I guess that’s whatMindedbasher is referring to.
Playstation Plus requirement was not around at the time he played BF4, but unfortunately it’s necessary for most multiplayer games nowadays.

  • No, you don't have to pay more for multiplayer. There is something weird that happens though if you try to join community content. It will present an error message making it seem like you need to buy something to gain access to the content. It's a misleading error message. So, for example, if you try to join the featured operations by happycamper (or whatever is currently featured), and you get an error message that seems like you need to buy something additional, just go to game settings -> system -> "show player created content": ON.  It is disabled by default for some stupid reason. Then close and reopen the game. No more error message.  This toggles itself off every now and then on its own, so keep it in mind in the future. And, now you know, closing and reopening the game is required to fix a lot of bugs in this game. Any time you have a challenge that doesn't complete properly, close and reopen the game. Error message? Close and reopen the game. Masterpiece, I know.

Additionally, if you play on xbox (and playstation too?), you HAVE to manually quit the game every time before you reopen it. Xbox dashboard -> highlight game -> hamburger menu -> Quit. Otherwise it never reloads properly. Turn your xbox off without closing the game first? It won't work. Open the game, wait for the error message, quit the game manually, open it again, now it works. Masterpiece.

It'll ask you to pay for the battlepass. Even asks you if you already have the battlepass. Kind of annoying. Also asks for money for BFPro, even if you already have it. You can tell what they really care about with every login.

Anyway... No, you do not need to buy anything once you already have the game.

If you want to get a battlepass... Don't do it right now. The new season starts next week so the current pass will expire and be over. Money down the toilet. It'll be a massive time crunch to try to finish it in a week. You'll get the benefit of having everything available to unlock all at once, but I worry that will be impossible to finish anyway, especially in a week. I finished the Season 1 pass in around 220 hours

Play for a week, if you like the game and want to continue, I highly recommend getting a battlepass once next season starts. You'll get gun unlocks early that really help.
