I'm losing track of which of these I've replied to and which I haven't (there are many of them and rightfully so), but it's important people are informed, so here I am again: -
Note: I am not saying I know 'the truth' and that I know everything, but I've maintained an interest in the issue and I think I've discovered more than most people appear to be aware of... So...
PC Players have found a way to turn off cross-play.
Because of that PC players have found that cross-play was badly effecting performance and was a big part of what made gunfights feel bad. It wasn't all the controller gunplay aids.
Controllers have various aim assists - pretty 'normal' in FPS game, but also have additional recoil reduction in BF6.
It has been recently shown that mouse is control is intentional hindered when attempting to control recoil. Controller does not have this. It's not just 'how recoil works'. It basically resists your movements if you go in the correct direction to counter recoil and accelerates your movements if you get it wrong making it feel either sluggish or wild or both all during one fight.
No matter how much console/controller players argue it, it is clear that those that set up their controllers properly and learn to abuse the gunplay aids - those that are likely to allow cross-play - have definite situational advantage. There are many videos displaying this. We are mostly talking about the ability to 'lock' on target and have all bullets land while in full-auto in CQC encounters (the exact situation in which mouse users have no aids and in fact DICE have coded them to have artificial hinderance).
So...
1) EA/DICE need to realise you cannot balance controller and mouse and all the artificial aids and hinderances make the situation worse, not better. All players need the option to turn cross-play off.
2) The technical limitations and issues of achieving cross-play worsen the gameplay noticeable and some would say significantly given it's gunplay - the core of much of the game - we are talking about. Again, all players need the option to turn cross-play off and the software that is artificially supporting cross-play - like the mouse hampering - should be removed.
3) Console players think PC players are cheats. There are lots of PC hacks. PC players think console players are cheats. The gunplay aids they all have behave like cheats and hacked controllers like Cronos are common. Yet again, all players need the option to turn cross-play off.
The conclusion is pretty clear: All players need the option to turn cross-play off and EA/DICE need to remove all the awful code that is in place to support it when cross-play is off. No more fiddling with control for reasons of 'balance'. No more bad cross-play infrastructure and 'netcode' code.
Stop trying to make cross-play work and make the game the best it can be instead.
I couldn't agree more.
