I started online PC gaming in 2000 on Quake 2 and 3 then got introduced to Counter Strike and Day of Defeat. At some point I have played almost every COD, BF and older Medal Of Honor game out. I have seen a ton of different hacks used but like you, will not lower myself to use them. It is a poor and pathetic person who cheats online.
I too remember the private server days. I used to be a regular on a BF3 clan server that competed in a league. One day I go to play and the server is down. I check their forum, one of their members was caught by Punkbuster during a league match, they disbanded immediately. They used to kick people all the time for cheating and then for it to be one of their own, they felt betrayed. Sad but that is the reality we live in.
Online gaming is in a sad state. The companies are greedy slop producing turds, over promising and under delivering or going insanely woke. You can't trust anyone you play against, even on a console. Streamers are not that entertaining anymore, they are just chasing the views and subs and the drama... oh god the drama. Why do we, as older guys continue to play? Cuz we are addicted to it. We long for days past when gaming was good (hell they don't even release a finished product anymore). We want that rush of a good game, of accomplishment and satisfaction that comes from a well fought game and victory. Sadly, I think that is dead and gone, never to return...
preach brother. I was in shock, that even the chess community, literally publicly sanctioned their streamers to smurf, and they call it "educational". One of their streamers recently suicided cause a famous World Champion started calling him a cheater. But this guy use to smurf on people and say because they are so low rated it is just casual fun. I mean the industry basically corrupted him, then he died of an overdose one night as he was acting depressed and out of his mind on stream. I kid you not. And the community started using his death as an excuse to censor all cheating talk. But they don't undserstand that what killed him, was convincing him that cheating for clicks and views was ok. His conscious got the best of him I think. It breaks my heart man because he was a sweet kid, pathological but good hearted, but I blame his manager and everyone around him for encouraging the path he went on. meanwhile its mostly kids that watch these streamers, and they are breeding sociopaths man. its a wholew giant community of cheaters and liars, its a whole generation now. They destroying our future. We have to get back to being real and not so fake. Where is the honor? They exploiting our children and they get no sympathy. We keep covering up the truth and society is imploding now, because its seeping into real life. They treating real life now, like we've always ignorantly treated the internet, like its some fantasy alternate reality, which is delusional and self destructive.
