I realize it's been a while, but going to bump my thread.
As we have seen countless threads on here, reddit, and other socials, the non-persistent matchmade main mode continues to bring issues of bot lobbies, which could mostly be resolved by allowing the quick-match/AOW/Breakthrough/etc queues to just be persistent between matches. Backfilling these when, say, 5-10 people drop out of the server between matches is significantly easier than re-filling 48-64 players over and over again.
One may say 'then host that in Portal!', but those servers tend to be limited tickrate and have poor discoverability. I wish that the existing matches (that are joined/queued from the main menu) would show in the Portal/Server browser menu. This would continue to keep the servers filled with real players.
I am fortunate enough (at least in a Battlefield sense...) to be in the Midwest/eastern US where finding a lobby during peak times (with crossplay on, mind you) is not overly difficult. But the folks that play at non-peak times, or in less-populated (by player count) regions would vastly benefit by offering persistence in the main mode(s), where the vast majority of players are attempting to join a game.
