Pyrrhic victory
I'm a veteran since 1942 and played more DC in my youth than I care to admit. BF2 was a defining moment in my teens, playing for hundreds of hours with friends. I then left gaming for life reasons until on a whim I bought BFV and had a great time. I'm getting old and slow which meant I was crap at PvP online, so I bought 2042 to play solo PvE vs bots to relive my youth learning how to fly helicopters again and really enjoyed it.
I bought BF6 based on the pre-launch advertising that I could play how I wanted in Portal. For me, that was relaxing after a long shift with a solo PvE game playing with vehicles in a sandbox. Two weeks after launch they removed this ability and I was denied a refund by Steam as I'd played too many hours.
Since launch, the management of the community and content, particularly the removal of the ability to make a solo PvE server (a feature available on launch) has been disappointing.
EA won this round as I paid for the game and wasn't able to get my money back. What they have done is lost a long term customer and more importantly a long term fan. Developers who respect and care about their community deserve support. Whether through arrogance or incompetence EA has blundered the best selling game of 2025. I'm done with BF6 and I'm done with the Battlefield franchise. Thanks for the memories!
