A simple fix would be to make range-finding require an input that can’t trigger on the same key or button as firing or aiming. You’d still be able to aim and set your range. Real systems like the XM157 and Wilcox RAPTAR already give instant range and automatic ballistic adjustment, so the idea itself isn’t unrealistic. BF does try aim for realism even if it is kinda overkill how it is now lol, should of been implemented a little better.
I’d even be fine with it pulling the range from a laser designator for long shots, since real snipers can do that too. And BF4 had a scope with a rangefinder on it, it only showed you the distance and then had to +100 it like every other BF game, going up +100 every time is tedious since not every scope even has the same mil-dots to line it up properly.
