Re: I was just banned in BF6

Has anyone heard anything about what they are doing to resolve this issue? We are paying a premium for this game and there has been no announcement about how they are fixing this and what the timeline is.

If they do anything, it'll probably be a while.

Some users are refunding and rebuying on new steams/EAs.
Some are waiting hours to get live chats and somehow getting unbanned / unlinking the accounts to allow relinking on new one to fix the issue..

I just said screw it and bought a month of EA Pro for now. Hopefully they fix this.

EDIT - If ya wanna try to live chat with someone, open a case for compromised account. That allows you to request a live chat. Appealing a non existing ban (not displayed on our accounts) won't.

I probably will have to end up doing that. But I want to know if its an issue with a software I have or a driver.  Some people are speculating it's interfering with Vanguard but there's other people who are getting banned on console. So who knows what is causing this.

The answer is simple. Don't cheat. You all know you were not falsely banned. You were caught cheating. Your big mistake was thinking that you were cheating in COD, where Activision's anticheat system is a joke. The best part is EA's anticheat system uses HWID bans and TPM 2.0 (which is great at detecting spoofers used to evade HWID bans). So we won't be seeing you cheaters again any time soon.

How about you being quiet? There are people getting banned without any reason. Your stupid comments don't help anyone.

you are dumb as can be if you think no one is getting falsely banned there anti cheat is a joke. It happen to me during the beta. luckly the pc I was using was all ready sold. the only thing I had in background was MSI afterburner for fan controll and bam ban. I am playing  on  differnt work pc now so just fine but it sucks that you have to go through task manger and find a bunch of programs that are pretty common on most pc's not and turn them off just so you can play without getting false banned.

This is beyond upsetting. Paid for the 100€ version and got banned 2 days in.

Translated from German by Google translate, so ignore mistranslations

    Dear Community,

I'd like to share my experience with EA and what I consider an unjust, permanent account ban. Here's my letter to EA; I've now reached the maximum appeal limit. I'm appalled at how EA treats long-time customers.

    Dear EA Team,

I'd like to share my almost two-month experience with a BF6 ban and your feedback, which unfortunately still leaves me hanging without a satisfactory solution. Appealing via ToS is pointless, and I've done so more than 10 times.

    * I am not a cheater and I am also against cheaters. I've been a loyal player of the series for over 20 years.

    * I am not aware of having installed any program that allegedly provides cheating advantages.

    * I have now filed appeals more than 10 times and exchanged several emails with you. Some of the replies are generic, presumably from India, with a reference to the appeal page. So, it's just going in circles. Unfortunately, a different employee always answers and promises help, but it's completely useless, as the communication always starts all over again.

    * The result via the appeal page is always the same: the ban is justified, and the ban remains in place.

    * Unfortunately, you don't tell me exactly what I'm being accused of, which program was responsible for triggering Javelin, which makes it difficult to uninstall anything when you don't even know what it is.

    * Unfortunately, with this lack of knowledge about what triggered Javelin, even a new purchase with a new account doesn't help; you'd probably just fall into the same trap again and lose another €70-100. EA keeps the money; there's no refund. Which doesn't help me at all. I just want to play fairly.

    * EA confirms in the reply email below that, to protect the Javelin system, they cannot/will not tell us what caused the ban.

    * EA mentions overlays, macro programs, and trainers as possible causes. I have the following installed:

    * Nvidia Overlay (can't be the problem in my opinion)

    * Overwolf Overlay (could be the cause, although I don't use it at all, but it's installed; only the PC Game Benchmark app is integrated. So nothing that should lead to cheating, except for the installation itself).

    * PC Game Benchmark for FPS benchmark (shouldn't be the problem either, since it only measures FPS) and wasn't even active for BF6

    * G-HUB for mouse button mapping (without using macros), which I absolutely need to map the mouse buttons to keyboard keys. Is that supposed to be cheating?

    * SteelSeries for keyboard, that shouldn't be the problem.

    * Conclusion: After almost two months, I still don't know what the problem is, I have no solution, no real help from EA, and I'll probably just stop buying EA online games sooner or later to avoid wasting any more money. It's a real shame when you 20 years of EA history behind it. It's not the only EA game, after all. Perhaps it's also intentional that players over 50 no longer participate? I still hope that EA will find a solution here.

    The following suggestions to EA:

    * More information about which third-party programs conflict with Javelin, possibly a PC system scan before starting the game, perhaps also using a separate tool
    * Give players a chance to uninstall third-party programs
or whatever led to a ban

    * No permanent bans on the FIRST occurrence or trigger of a ban by Javelin.

    * The community thus helps to optimize Javelin, identify false positives, and inform players about system conflicts before starting the game

    Thank you and best regards

    Michael

I’m in the same situation as you, so it’s hard to say what caused the ban, it could have been anything. A large number of the bans seem to be linked to Steam users, so it’s possible the Steam overlay triggered it. Other software with overlays, such as the NVIDIA overlay or Discord overlay, could also be a factor.

Another thing that appears to trigger bans is software that involves button remapping, like iCUE, G HUB, SteelSeries GG, or Swarm II.

Because EA will not provide evidence for the ban, they are in breach of consumer law, which means you’re entitled to a full refund. I received my refund about a week ago.

Just be careful if you’re thinking about creating another account to purchase the game again, as the ban can also be tied to specific hardware. Even with a new account, you could be instantly banned.

EA's anti-cheat system for Battlefield 6, called Javelin, implements Hardware ID (HWID) bans. This means the ban is tied to the unique digital fingerprints of your computer's components, not just your specific game account or IP address.

How an HWID Ban Affects You

Instant Re-ban: The moment you launch Battlefield 6 on the banned PC with any new or different account, the anti-cheat software recognizes the blacklisted hardware IDs and will likely issue an instant re-ban.

Circumvention Prevention: The purpose of an HWID ban is to prevent the specific device from accessing the game's services, regardless of the account used.

The issue I’ve got is that I’m planning to build a new PC and sell my current one to a mate. If he downloads BF6, he’ll probably get instantly banned 😂

I typed into Google: ‘What if my brother plays BF6 on his own PC and account, but on the same IP address as the one I got banned on?’ This is what Google came up with.

Yes, it is possible for your brother to face a ban, as EA's anti-cheat systems often flag and store the IP addresses of banned players. While the ban is primarily linked to your account and potentially your PC's hardware ID (HWID), using the same public IP address puts his account at risk of being associated with the original ban.

Here's why and what you can do:

    The Risk

Shared Public IP: All devices on a home network share a single public IP address when connecting to external servers.

Anti-Cheat Monitoring: EA's anti-cheat uses an AI to detect unusual activity and flags both the account and the associated IP address.

High Scrutiny: The system will closely monitor any new or different account playing from an IP address previously associated with a ban, which could lead to an automatic ban or closer investigation of your brother's account.

HWID Bans: In addition to IP bans, EA also uses hardware ID bans, which ban the specific computer hardware used to cheat. If you were cheating, your PC is likely flagged, but your brother's separate PC might not be, provided he has never used any cheats.

    Recommendations to Avoid a Ban

Ensure Separate Accounts: Make sure your brother is using his own, completely separate EA account that has never been associated with any rule violations.

No Cheats Ever: Your brother must ensure his PC is completely clean of any third-party software, hacks, or mods that could be misinterpreted as cheats, as the anti-cheat system can be sensitive and cause "false positive" bans.

Consider a VPN (Use with caution): If you continue to face issues, using a reliable, paid VPN service on your brother's PC might give him a different external IP address to connect to the game servers. However, some VPN use can also be flagged by anti-cheat if other users on the same VPN servers have cheated.

Contact EA Support: If your brother's account is inadvertently affected, you will need to contact EA Help directly to appeal the ban and explain the situation (separate users, separate PCs, shared IP). EA does not publicly share the exact mechanics of their ban enforcement to prevent circumvention, so direct communication is the only official path for resolution.

It’s clear that the Javelin anti-cheat is extremely fragile, and legitimate, non-cheating players are suffering because of it. My advice to anyone planning to get BF6: if you want a smooth experience with out the worry of getting banned, buy BF6 on console, not PC.

what you are saying is total bull....HWID bans never seen one  IP bans not even.. most people get gameplay enhancement ... so ea steals your progression the game 79 euro or whatver  price you bought it.. if you want play buy the game again and start over

thats it.. and dont bother to appeal  cause there is 3 templates they use  one after the other.. till the they leave the case open so you  cant re appeal... never seeing a company using a pyramid style ban scam to make sales ...

I’m not saying this is factual. This is simply what I found while researching the Javelin anti-cheat software. Apologies if any of this is incorrect, this is just something to be aware of if the research turns out to be accurate.

Attached is a screenshot of what Google said when researching this

What a shameful way to treat long time supporters of the franchise.  Been playing BF since 2010, bought every game since.

Disgusting behavior by this company.  At least send a warning,  an email, a pop up... something. Instead carpet ban, Ai style, Ai appeals.

    Shameful.

Fair play to you, sir 👏. It is becoming increasingly apparent that EA’s approach is having wide-ranging and damaging consequences. These issues extend beyond players and directly affect innocent third-party companies such as Steam and PayPal, which are being forced to issue refunds under EU consumer law (Directive 2019/770) as a direct result of EA’s actions.

At the core of the problem appears to be the Javelin anti-cheat system, which shows clear signs of being fundamentally flawed. A significant number of players are being falsely banned, resulting in paying customers losing access to purchased products and unrelated companies bearing the financial and operational fallout.

On a personal level, I have received a full refund, so there is no residual bitterness on my part. I also cannot reasonably challenge a ban for a game I no longer legally own. Additionally, none of my friends play the game anymore, largely because it has lost interest for them.

However, the broader issue remains deeply concerning. This situation, where a large corporation effectively strips access to a paid product from customers due to a defective anti-cheat system, is something I am monitoring closely. I cannot recall anything of this scale happening in the history of gaming, and the implications are significant.

There should also be a means to generate sufficient momentum for affected third-party companies to formally challenge EA, given the disruption and financial impact these issues have caused.

I would add the following point, which I want to be clear is purely speculative. A noticeable number of the bans that occurred on 24 November appeared to be linked predominantly to Steam users. This timing is particularly interesting given that Battlefield 6 launched a major free trial for Season 1 shortly afterwards, running from 25 November to 2 December 2025, allowing new players to access core multiplayer modes.

One possible interpretation is that the disproportionate number of Steam-linked bans effectively reduced the active player base ahead of the free trial period. This may have had the secondary effect of keeping servers more stable during an influx of new players, potentially improving the onboarding experience and supporting new sales.

If this interpretation were accurate, it would also explain why Steam users appear to make up the majority of affected accounts. By placing the burden of refunds and customer backlash primarily on Steam, EA would have been insulated from much of the direct fallout while continuing to benefit financially from incoming players.

To reiterate, this is not presented as fact, but as an observation based on timing, patterns, and outcomes. Nonetheless, the coincidence raises legitimate questions that warrant closer scrutiny.

I thought this from the jump so i will be raising this with the ACCC also, funny when i hit up steam i got a reply within 2 days, EA took nearly a month, which again the ACCC will find unacceptable, i only put a bit over 50 hours on this game and got banned when not even playing the whole thing stinks!

I believe one of the most overlooked aspects of being falsely banned is the psychological impact it has. Having something taken away that you worked hard for, something you earned through your own time and money, while being completely powerless to fix it, truly weighs on your mind.

I have lived my life as an honest person. I have never cheated anyone, whether friends, my partner, or even the tax man. I have no criminal record, and I take pride in having lived a clean and principled life. That is why being labelled a “cheater” by EA, and by extension parts of the EA community, has been deeply distressing.

This may sound extreme, but the experience has given me a small insight into what it must feel like to be punished for something you did not do, knowing you are innocent, yet having no meaningful way to prove it. All you can do is appeal, research, and wait, hoping to be heard.

What makes it even harder is the social impact. Friends you once played with, people who strongly oppose cheating, can begin to question you, even if only subconsciously. That doubt alone is painful. It plays on your mind to know that this situation may have altered how others perceive you, and that the honest reputation you were once proud of now feels unfairly tarnished.

This experience doesn’t just remove access to a game, it affects your confidence, your sense of fairness, and your trust in the system meant to protect legitimate players.
