Re: Security Requirements on BF6 on PCs!

So I downloaded BF6 and tried to run the game to set up my settings. Tried to run the game on steam, a window popped up saying go to this site and do this in order to run the game (change secure boot to ON and BIOS mode to UEFI). Went to the site that was mentioned in pop up window (https://help.ea.com/en/articles/technical-issues/secure-boot/) and followed all instructions on the website and that refer to my mobo and its BIOS. After setting everything up as mentioned in the instructions provided by EA and/or developer of the game, I exited the BIOS and my PC wont load into Windows nor cant get into BIOS. Ive tried to reset cmos, plug my screen into different ports, connected PC to my TV, unplugged GPU and tried to connect screen to mobo, removed RAMs and plugged them back in and disassembled whole PC and put it back together but nothing works at all. Wasted 2 days trying to fix my PC just to play Bf6 beta and after looking all over the internet and asking IT guys I know what could be the problem and how to fix it we came to conclusion that whole mobo needs to be changed. As I have older mobo, that means I also need to get new processor, new RAMs and new cooler. Thanks to Bf6 and its awesome guide on how to turn on secure boot I have to pay 488€ for new hardware and 12€ for new windows so I can fix my PC. So unless you guys know exactly what you are doing I do not recommend to use their step by step guide on how to turn secure boot on.

@Oskool_007 thanks for responding ! I tried this though. I couldn’t figure out how to short it so I removed the battery to try and clear cmos but even after that and unplugging all components still nothing. I also tried hdmi straight into mobo and still no picture showing. I took it to a repair shop today and they’re keeping it overnight, doubt they will figure it out and I’ll probobly end up upgrading my mobo/cpu and hopefully that fixes it.

I have no idea if this will help, I hope it at leas resets your PC to boot..
try taking off all devices from your PC ports except for the keyboard, also stick a PS/2 port tethered keyboard(old type) to the back port of your machine.
unplug the power cable,  do the C-mos clear(jumper pin shot) and put the jumper back, re-plug the PC.
Do it more than twice if your system  fan doesn't even make a sound.

If it does POST, press the "Del . " key multiple times at the startup screen till it beeps, go into that "Secure Boot "thing again and go to custom to "Clear" the data I suppose you installed and save out by pressing F10 >yes and reboot.
I still can't make the secure boot work but at least I got my windows10 back after getting the blue screen and recover failed loop doing this.
honestly I have no idea what happened but

Ok, for 1, you at no point needed to replace everything, a manual flashback would have sufficed.  And for 2, the places that sell you motherboards will GLADLY update your bios and if you ask them, enable secure boot before you leave the store.
literally nothing could brick your hw so bad just changing a setting that it can’t be fixed by a tech who knows what they are doing.

and if you accidentally interrupted a bios update this is just exactly what would happen.

Ref1ex13 unplug your PC and then short the reset jumper on the motherboard. This will reset the motherboard's BIOS settings to factory default.

Removing the motherboard's battery will also reset it to default settings.

Similar thing just happen to me. Change boot from legacy+uefi to uefi only. Now windows will it load due to crash error.  Only can go to bios screen. Revert to original setting and still will not load windows.
Z370 gaming m5 MSI motherboard. Running perfectly fine till doing this.

EXACT same thing happening to me rn. I tried setting my bios mode to UEFI only because it said legacy in system info. And I reboot and now nothing. No bios no windows nothing will boot. And I  cannot afford to reset my parts. I have 5600x,3080ti, and x470. Not sure what to do at this point.

Ok, the thing is though, who is held liable for that? You? So they have a system implemented for the game that we must do, we do it, and it sucks our system and WE have to take that burden now? WTF is the world come to? Who and where can I go? I'm a dam bitlocker screen. Accountability needs to be held.

MSI Tomahawk B450, Ryzen 5 3600, 2x8GB RAM Hyper X, RTX 4060. Changed to gigabyte X780 Aorus Elite, AMD Ryzen 5 9600x, 2x16GN Kingston Fury. After parts were changed all good. After checking again BIOS mode is UEFI but secure boot is off again. idk if i should try it again and risk it all or nah.

I do and i got the cheaper parts. As I already mentioned I CANT access Bios nor Windows so only thing to do is rreplace the parts that are problematic. I only posted for other people to not fiddle with it if they dont know what are they doing. This could happen to anyone anywhere I was just the unluckyt guy that have to deal with this. I tried many methods on fixing it but none of them worked.

Should be able to clear CMOS and reset BIOS. Might need an update I had someone yesterday in the BF Discord lose their mind as they did everything right only to get told no by the bios. Turns out that more modern Windows versions need more up to date keys for secure boot to work or so, which means a newer bios version.

I HIGHLY doubt you actually need to drop 500 to fix your issue and that its way simpler than you think.

This is very sad. Posting at least you PC specs might help other people to avoid such problem OR find another solution.

    Hello!

That sounds incredibly frustrating. The problem is likely a conflict between your Windows installation and the new BIOS settings. When you switched from Legacy to pure UEFI mode, your computer couldn't find the bootloader because Windows was originally installed for Legacy mode, targetpayandbenefits causing it to fail to load. The fact that you can't even get back into the BIOS after a CMOS reset is more concerning and suggests the motherboard's firmware may have been corrupted or put into an incompatible state. Given the extensive troubleshooting you've already done, the conclusion that the motherboard is "bricked" and needs to be replaced is, unfortunately, very plausible.
