One of the few things I actually did like about Battlefield 2042 was that there were finally AI Soldiers for us to play with and against. Although personally I think they need upgrades for the new game to make them feel a lot better to play with.
Yes I understand others don't want them in the public servers. But my question is will they still be available in Private Servers and Solo/COOP matches like they are in Battlefield 2042?
I'd say it's a solid possibility. That said as for improving the AI idk how far they can take it before the bots get TOO good and start aimbotting everyone.
Yeah, that's a perpetually difficult problem for devs going back to the original bots in quake/cs/UT/etc how do you make them feel realistic and not just destroying you. Then of course adding in way more movement, controls, vehicles, etc it turns into a ton of variables that are difficult to control and also difficult to make everyone happy.
I honestly don't have a problem with them, especially in private/co-op. And honestly, they are probably for the best when it comes to official servers in locations that have struggling player counts.
Unironically I think this is the like one spot where AI could see some proper use that doesnt ruin people's livelihoods. Using past player and labs data to help train the AI to behave more "player-like" could be beneficial in that area.
Knowing companies are all in on that stuff it'd be a chance to direct that to something possibly worthwhile instead of gutting art, writing, and QA departments like we're seeing across the industry.
Personally, I hope they don’t make a comeback in any shape or form in public lobbies. I’m more of a fan of the Battlefield 2 implementation of bots in the "singleplayer" part of the game.
I don't enjoy playing against AI bots. I prefer playing against human opponents.
I hope so too as I really enjoy playing solo against them. Totally understand people not wanting them in public lobbies (I'm not personally fussed if they are though), but they're really handy if you just want a quick match or to mess around and try things out. They were also a helpful option for completing weekly missions when you have limited free time to play.
on Battlefield 2042 the AI bot is ok but I prefer playing player versus player.
Same here, I’d prefer not having them in public lobbies, but I don’t mind them in co-op or some form of test range.
I wasn't there for Battlefield 1942 but I did start playing with Battlefield 2 on a computer so weak it could barely even play the small singleplayer AI Bot matches at the time. It's actually because of those first moments that I still prefer Bot Matches compared to playing with others.
I have played every single Battlefield game since then both online and their Singleplayer and COOP modes. Even to this day I still feel like Battlefield 2 was the perfect experience before Destruction was added in Battlefield 3 and the later games. I absolutely love the Destruction in those games but really hate the fact we couldn't do AI matches like we could in Battlefield 2. Sure they had Campaigns but it just isn't the same.
Everyone keeps telling me that the best way to play Battlefield is in full matches with other people and I won't disagree with that. However the reason why I like AI Bot matches more is mainly because they are simply less stressful in general because I don't have to worry about what everyone else on my team thinks about how I am doing since I feel like I am always on the bottom of the leaderboard when it comes to the amount of kills I have every match.
AI don't care about that and using 2042 as an example they also allow me to play on ANY MAP on ANY MODE whenever I want to even if the maps and modes I want to play on are the most unpopular maps in the game compared to the others (Tehran Highway in Battlefield 3 is a good example of this).
That is why I am trying to push for this so much. Because for some of us this really is the best and sometimes only way we can play this game at all.
