Re: The Portal XP Nerf and the Betrayal of "Full Progression" - Targeted Solutions
I really think Portal XP should go back to how it was before. The current nerf completely kills the sense of progression and makes the game feel less rewarding.
I usually play with my friends against bots, because honestly, I just don’t have the time to grind like the players who play all day long. When I try playing against sweaty high-skill players, it’s just not fun — you barely spawn, get shot instantly, and spend more time watching the respawn screen than actually playing. That kills any desire to keep playing.
Portal was perfect for players like me — casual ones who just want to have fun, try different setups, and still feel some progression. I’d even be willing to pay for a dedicated server where XP works like it used to, as long as I can keep playing the way I enjoy.
As a casual player, I don’t care about kill/death stats at all. I completely agree that stats shouldn’t count when playing with bots — that way, people who care about their stats can keep them clean, and the rest of us can still enjoy leveling up and unlocking stuff without ruining anyone’s leaderboards.
Just bring back the original XP system and disable stats for bot matches — that would make everyone happy. Battlefield should be fun again for both casual and hardcore players.
