Recon:Spec Ops needs serious attention

Hello,

I enjoy  to play more infiltrator, SMG agressive type of recon, but the class which niche it's supposed to be, the Recon:Spec Ops is utter trash. I dont think there is any situation where you just wouldn't be better off as Support or Assault. I wonder if they look at the class and subclass breakdown, how many players are consitently playing SpecOps today...

1: In order to unlock the ninja, behind enemy lines, non sniper type of specialization, you have to farm crazy "miles away from combat" sniper kills, which makes 0 sense.

2: The weapon specialization you end up with even as SpecOps, is also sniper rifle, but something like e.g. SMG would be far better suited for the goal of the class.

3: The passives you get, situationally OK, but they just don't get your fired up to play the class.

Not a COD player, but I've played it a bit, and SpecOps should be the equivalent loadout to people running Ghost/Ninja perks to some extent.

Some random things, while strong, outlines a bit the direction I'd love to see the class go:

  • Reduces footstep noise just always by 50%
  • Reduce time being spotted just always by 50%
  • Supressor attachement cost reduced by 50%
  • Two charges of claymore.
  • SMG hipfire bonus
  • Keep the auto-spotting trait from it's Sniper counterpart.

  • How would people playing closed weapons manage to utilise spec op if smg was the signature weapon?

Maybe make carbine signature weapon for spec ops.

I agree about the grind to unlock it somewhat, I've been trying to unlock it for 3 days and currently have 16 headshots over 150m.

The main issue I'm having is there are only really 4 maps you can realistically get over 150m headshots on.

  • Here is my take on how to fix recon as spec ops path doesn't get any benefits from signature set. And smokes should be available to recon.

    "Hunter and the hound"

RECON will change his signature gadget to “laser designator” (will function the same). Weapon debuff will mark enemies postion on minimap and in-world. Signature trait will remain as "auto spotting ” this will spot enemies in world and mini map for all allies. This class will focus on gathering information and relaying it to their team.

Gadgets will mostly be the same; motion sensor, C4, decoy, claymore, dart gun (Would like to add a EMP version or just replace it), I would like to move ladder to this class as it would help with better positioning

SNIPER his ability will remain as “UAV overwatch” spot enemies for 60 sec with in a 100 m radius. Initial skill will change to “sniper training" this will improve marksmanship, reduce sway and better breath control for steadier aim. Next skill will change to “enhanced perception” this will improve spotting range and area of effect from crosshair, spotting will be quicker and last longer). Final skill will remain as confirmed kill (enemies can't be revived from a head shot by a bolt action rifle). This path will focus on trimming down or assassinating enemies from long range.

SPEC OPS his ability will change to “UAV overwatch”. Initial skill will remain as “stealth tactics” this will reduce sound unless standing and reduce movement speed penalty while squatting. Next skill will remain as gadget awareness (spot nearby enemy gadgets unless sprinting). Final skill will remain as “low profile” this will make player lose spotting quicker when prone and undetectable to thermal while prone. This path will focus on stealth and maneuvering behind enemy lines. Best class to hunt enemies and counter snipers

This class is more of a wanderer but most of the changes made help balance both paths better so player can try to sneak behind enemy lines or stick to the backline, the ladder will be a huge help regardless of the path you pick as it would allow for more of a 3d way to traverse the field and bypass choke points
