How is this iteration of Portal different from the one featured in Battlefield 2042?

Can you earn progression via Portal experiences?

Yes. No matter what mode you play, you will earn progression experience. Every Portal Experience will communicate the available progression rewards in its menu description. These are broken up in the following types of experiences:

• Verified Community Experiences will grant players the same categories of EXP they’d earn playing any of Battlefield 6’s official modes, including progression for challenges, badges, and accolades.
• Custom Community Experiences, identified as those that push Battlefield into different genres and experiences that are distant from the core gameplay loop of the series. Will grant players who stay until the end of the match Time Played EXP.
  
  Could've simply just reduced the amount of Exp / mastery / etc earned from playing portal games & Us PVE / squad vs ai gamers wouldn't have cared, but to only now reward career xp & some challenges, is completely wrong.
  
  the solo/co-op modes from 2042, reward everything, just its 50% or 25% compared to playing pvp, so i don't understand why that couldn't have been the option.

All Dice/EA have or had to do is decouple the progression in Portal modes from main PVP game modes and likely resolve a lot of the anger around this. They should have known original plan would be exploited as they went through similar with BF2042 Portal and planned accordingly. Despite that, if they had come out and instead of nuking stuff and announced XP/Progression was being disabled until they could code in the split progression I think many in the player base would have been OK with that.  

The timing on all of this also completely stinks - Dice/EA should have predicted that the way they implemented Portal was going to allow for bot farms. I say the timing of all of this stinks because the only people I heard or saw talking about bot farming were those same streamers Dice/EA are catering to. It was allowed to stay juuuuust long enough for the streamers to get all their unlocks before Dice/EA not only dial progression back, but completely remove ability to get XP at all when bots outnumber human players? Yeah, nothing fishy there at all.

While 60% of the world's litigation is done here in the good old US of A, this would be a hard point to prove with current US laws while a citizen of the EU could turn to the Digital Services Act (DSA) and show how they mislead their customers. But I agree they are killing their own game with decisions like this, with no real upside I can think of. Some tweaking was needed but to destroy all the casual players' experiences. I was enjoying some of the same type of content, not the farm 4 bots for Challenges or unlocks, but a more casual 50% bot 50% player portal experience that made the end of day let me get on and have fun completing the 3 daily challenges to unwind for 30 - 45 minutes after work. Getting enough experience and unlocks to stay close to my friends who would play together on the multiplayer servers on the weekend. I hope that they get a large enough dip in users that they are compelled to find another fix to the current "destroy" the casual game players' experience.

I disagree with portal progression needing to be separate from online progression.  DICE had given casual players a way to be able to do daily and weekly missions with standard portal instances. This works well in BF2042 and a few of us get together to do just that. It's very different with us older folks playing against younger folk who have way better reflexes or spend much more time playing.

They need to add solo/coop.

I'd even say they should allow portal creations to be played outside portal in solo/coop too.

Progression needs to either be seperate from online progression or everything should be unlocked from the start.

I believe we would enjoy a Solo/Co-op mission series populated with bots (as in BF 2042) and a few players would be a good way to go.

I certainly don't support Portal Bot XP Farming  as was being created by some players.

I, by the way, I'm a 74-year-old senior citizen as others are. I am a 20-year Navy veteran, and comfortably retired. And I certainly enjoy the Battlefield games. Including Battlefield 6.

By the way, I don't think it's wise to make vaguely veiled threats of legal action. Especially when you can Google the legal rights of the game creators, EA DICE.

When you're a PvE or COOP player you pay the same ... you just get less.
