Removing Weapon Progression from Portal PvE was a Bad Move & Here’s Why!
In BF2042, one of the best things about Portal was the ability to play against bots while still earning weapon progression and completing assignments.
It gave players like me (and plenty of others) a chance to have a chill night without the chaos of Multiplayer, just grinding weapons, testing builds, and genuinely enjoying the game at our own pace.
Now, they’ve removed weapon progression and all related progression from Portal PvE servers. I genuinely don’t understand why. They could easily bring it back with moderate XP not full XP, but something balanced, like 50% XP, that still rewards players for their time.
For those who always say:
“It’s a PvP game, go play a PvE game if you want bots.”
My honest question is — how does this affect your experience?
If you want PvP, go play PvP. Nobody’s forcing you to join a PvE Portal server. Bringing progression back doesn’t hurt anyone’s gameplay; it just gives players more freedom and choice in how they enjoy Battlefield.
Portal PvE used to be a great, relaxing option for those who love Battlefield’s mechanics but don’t always want the full sweat-fest of All-Out Warfare. Now, it feels like that playstyle was just erased for no reason.
Bring back weapon progression, assignments, and balanced XP for Portal PvE. It made the game more inclusive, more flexible, and ultimately, more fun. This was promised from the beginning! And, was removed after 2 weeks of launching.
