Rush Removal - Possibly Worst BF Decision Ever

I would like to start by saying I have been a die hard Battlefield fan since I first started playing with a bit of Bad Company 2 and then really diving in with Battlefield 3. I have played every game since with Rush being by far my favorite game mode. Conquest was always a close second, but I loved the close quarters objective play rush had to offer.

I will admit that it wasn't perfectly balanced on all the maps in Battlefield 6, but that's part of what makes the game enjoyable. Coming up with new strategies to overcome some of the "unfairness" specifically for attackers on a few maps. It comes down to getting creative enough to overcome the enemy team and finding strategic flanks that will help your team win.

That being said, removing rush from Battlefield 6 after it has been in every game for the past 16 years is going to kill the game. If they are trying to funnel people into breakthrough it just won't work. Breakthrough is essentially an endless meat grinder of who can throw more bodies at the objective with little strategy; a new version of Operation Lockers/Metro back in the day. It's not strategic and it's not what true Battlefield fans want.

I am extremely disappointed in their decision to remove rush, ESPECIALLY with no public reasoning for why they did it and no info on the patch notes. I had to start a chat with EA support to even get a reason why it was removed. I usually played at 7pm CST and I NEVER get bots in my Rush lobby, so a lack of player base is just a flat out lie. If this is a permanent change, I will never touch another Battlefield game in my life.

Before anyone calls me a casual or something dumb: 5.25kd overall (5.7kd in rush), 70% win rate, over 200 hours in rush alone

  • You are very right. Why can't EA just leave well enough alone. We do not continue to support and pay for BF to turn around and take away content. It's already bad enough having little content and maps and while getting better at that, you turn around and take away core game modes. It's not that hard to give us some simple things we want.

You have pretty much slapped the core fans in the face over that last several years with the garbage like bf2042 and bfv, but like a fool me and my friends have bought the game and hopes you would do better. We have been playing since BFBC2 and it's like you forget the stuff you made before. We want more content more, game modes and if it is a long wait in lobby, make a choice to join fill bots servers and we can do so if we want, heck why don't you allow us server rentals again?

You cater to the RedSec group and while I enjoy it and play it, it's not why I bought BF6. Heck it's not even that popular as a whole, you are not Warzone, just face it. You pretty much copied COD but if you are going to do so copy the good parts and that is they don't take core game modes away like Hardpoint or search and destroy and guess what they bring back their popular maps just like they were, nuketown anyone. Can we not get a Metro or Locker map, just copy and paste. I guarantee you'd see people playing it in droves, just don't change anything.

Main thing is don't take but give and I and my friends will give with our wallets. Keep taking and you won't get a dime. I had walked away after 2042 but you redeemed yourself but I can do it again. You forget a rule of business, substitutions.

  • I agree 100% with what you said. I've spent a lot of money in this game and on this game. And I never thought they would remove one of their core game modes. We need rush back

I agree with you, as well as the removal of squad death match.

  • Yeah I also had over 200 hours on Rush and have been purchasing Battlefield games since BF3. Super disappointed that they got rid of rush, I don't really like any of the other game modes. They didn't even mention the removal in the update notes and are leaving everyone in the dark on why it was axed, shady stuff.

Most likely won't be purchasing any future Battlefield games after this one

  • I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said.

Removing Rush is an incredibly bad decision. It's been one of Battlefield's defining game modes for well over a decade, and for many players it's the reason they keep coming back. Taking away a core part of the franchise without any meaningful explanation makes absolutely no sense.

What's even more frustrating is that we have no idea what the development team was thinking. If there was a legitimate reason, they should have communicated it openly instead of silently removing one of the most iconic modes in Battlefield history. The lack of transparency has only made the community more frustrated.

Rush isn't just another playlist—it's part of Battlefield's identity. Hopefully the developers listen to the community and bring it back before they permanently alienate a lot of long-time fans.
