Long range sniping can be fun, but it in the overwhelming majority of the cases doesn't contribute much to the team. In between long range and CQB there is a huge amount of space that snipers can also excel at. Instead of sitting at the edge of the map, move a little closer while sticking to cover. Not only will you get more opportunities to make kills, but you don't even have to worry about bullet drop/travel time all that much.
As far as scope glint goes, it was too harsh in the beta and they've already said they'd dial it back a bit. Combine that with specific attachments to reduce scope glint and you'll be less visible.
Battlefield games have traditionally had damage drop off at range for pretty much every gun in the game. We don't have the statistics yet, but I'd be surprised if Battlefield 6 is any different. Automatic weapons have limitations too.
