Solo player request (translated)

Hello!

I’ve been thinking about playing the Battlefield series’ online modes from the perspective of a solo player who feels socially anxious. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that this audience has not been taken sufficiently into account in the game’s design. The problem is the forced assignment to a squad at the beginning of every match.

It would be great if players could disable automatic squad assignment in the settings. This would eliminate the unnecessary hassle of adjusting the squad setup at the start of each match. Players wouldn’t have to create their own “lone wolf” squad just to play independently. They could begin playing in peace, without the confusing jumping between squads — forced “cooperation,” or pressure to be part of a group.

The lack of what seems like such a simple feature is surely discouraging solo players who experience anxiety and reducing the number of hours they play. Personally, I prefer to operate in the background without any communication or connection with the squad. Thank you in advance if this feedback reaches someone who understands and can take it into consideration. 🫶

  • This is an interesting thread to me.  I totally understand your reasoning for the request for consideration.

Having said that I do have to question if it is really necessary.  The old expression "You do You" comes to mind.  This mindset is quite often called "lonewolf".  I get that the vast majority of players play the game as a group or squad but in reality I very seldom see this work completely match after match.  I see some doing it and others not and as a match progresses you will see individual play as much or more so than team work.

Honestly, I dont care how any other player chooses to enjoy the game.  I simply adapt or simply play out the match however it manifests itself.  It is just a game.

If I could make a suggestion to you at this point.  Try to stick more with Casual Breakthrough.  The atmosphere here tends to be more relaxed with a lot less harrassment from other plays to play the way they want you to play.  In Casual I and most players, if they are honest, tend to play their style whatever that style looks like and just letting it all play out in whatever way it does.

You do You.  I do not think you will receive much in the lines of negative comments and if you do then simply ignore it or mute the person.

I am mainly a solo player as well and though I do not have anxiety, I will tell you that I rarely talk to other players. In fact, I rarely hear other players talk. Usually that comes when there are two or more players in your squad that are already friends and they are talking or it is just someone's mic going off due to background noise, etc. At that point you can switch squads or mute them and carry on with your gaming. Maybe, if you have squad mates that are communicating strategically, you could join in? After all, this game is intended to be a work together for the win game. Might be a good way to rid yourself of the anxiety you feel as well. It is nice when the communication is not childish banter, but people calling out enemies and where to go, what to do, etc.

  • Hi! ANCIENTDread xVulture

I have adapted to play without any communication channel open and on private mode in PlayStation. So there's no harashment coming on my inbox or headset system or in-game chats while playing. Some players do this unsportmanship gesture over my dead body but I can get over it.

Unfortunately, my personal avoidant sensitivity will cause me a lot of trouble making any kind of proactive social interaction outside Internet and messaging boards. I do occassionally play with a friend but as a NEET, I have a whole lot of freetime. But yeah, others have basically adopted me so joining a clan or some other form huge community => 😱 (+ I just speak my native. European minority language.)

I tried Casual Breakthrough. Wasn't my cup of tea. I enjoy playing in PvP environments — Conquest and Escalation as Spec-ops recce solely.

But I feel that opening up this situation has already helped a bit, because of positive insight and realistic suggestion you're giving out. Maybe some day, I will find a mate who has similar-ish situation and we can together play video games in freetime and enjoy slow paced fallflower life. 🌸

I'll keep up with this 'You do You'-philosophy.

  • It literally takes about 5 seconds to create your own one player squad and lock it at the start of a match.

The game has provided players the option to do this, unlike 2042 which didn't feature this choice for much of it's lifespan.
