I find you can move more slowly with your squad and be effective. The fact that only one of you has to survive and can revive all the rest is a big squad tactics advantage. If you have one of each class you have massive utility and it works well.
Sure, others are running around like headless chickens. It doesn't mean you have to and I'm finding that actually having a care gives advantage.
We are new to the maps too. Headless chicken mode doesn't care about map knowledge. As we get to know the maps tactical play will be more and more effective, where the CoD kid tactic will not get any better.
As for the maps, I think people are forgetting what BF4 was actually like. Metro and Locker, anyone? Liberation Peak is pretty much Siege of Shanghai. Siege of Cairo is pretty much Zavod.
Anyway, I'm finding it's better than BF5 and BF2042 already. BF6 will probably never be as good as BF1 in all regards, but it's not bad.
P.S. I've played thousands of hours in all versions on BF (well, I got a refund on BF5 and BF2042 because they were too much Battle Royale and Hero Shooter and horribly disappointing in other ways) and I doubt BF1 will ever be topped, but we all have our thoughts on what Battlefield 'is'.
