Support Specialist 3 Challenge - BF6

On BF6 as part of the Support Specialist 3 challenge you must ‘Deal damage with the Incendiary Airburst Launcher as Support’.

While completing this challenge I have noticed that the damage only counts when the canister directly hits the enemy that you have fired it at.

This means that if the canister lands next to an enemy and deals damage the points don’t count towards the challenge. This is becoming increasingly frustrating as being hut by the canister before it explodes only deals on average around 12 HP, making this challenge a huge grind.

I assume that if an enemy walks into the flames after it has exploded the damage that is dealt is meant to count towards the challenge.
