I've also played Battlefield since BF2, and to me the answer to this whole thing is blindingly obvious (much like the light situation when exiting buildings in BF6 currently! lol)
Reduce the grind for the weapon attachments and challenges! Casual players can't spend hours upon hours upon hours in games to try and attain the ridiculous amount of XP needed on, say, the sniper rifles to unlock a decent scope (start off with a 6x? Really? need to be just 150 m from the target to use them!)
That will reduce the number of XP farming servers people create, as they just won't need them! You're not going to stop them completely; I mean, look at how 2042 ended up at the end with the AFK XP farms!!!
There are loads of people that play solo or coop, that just get hosed, most of them don't ever play multi, so they are stuck with stock everything, get bored, and quit. The learned little from 2042 exodus.

I have stopped playing, what is the point. Gonna check in to a refund for this nonfunctional game.
