So I just found out and verified that there are no bots allowed on verified portal experiences. The option to backfill is greyed out.
So what's the point of portal? Even MP has bots. No bots at ALL? How do you plan to fill your servers?
I thought we'd be able to unlock weapons and attachments vs bots. What happened to that? I'm old. I wear bifocals. I have arthritis. I have nerve damage. I bought this game thinking I could play vs bots like in 2042.
Instead, I have two choices: go into MP where I can't unlock anything because I get killed every 20 seconds by people sprinting and sliding and bunny-hopping all over the place like crazy and coming at me from literally every direction, or play portal for no xp, no unlocks, no rewards.
Dice, I'm disappointed.
We buy the full-featured games, and if the game is good, as BF has typically been--we stay involved.
But for my group, we love having a dedicated server that provides all the XP and Attachments. So the dedicated server is great, but the fact that you can't get attachment XP on a round with a small group is pretty disappointing. We are almost required to use bots for backfilling because of the 3- to 4-person group.
Will there be an option to earn XP for attachments in the future on servers with backfills?
I understand the cheating issue, but I don't understand why turning off XP for attachment rewards is necessary.
If your purchasers want goodies ranked alongside their progression, how is that similar to a cheater?
Do you claim that playing the game in a bot backfill is cheating?
If you pay money for the game, why would you prevent parts of the game to your paying customers?
In fact, the BETA had this feature, and after purchase you turn it off, sadly as a dedicated BFer, it saddens me that the position is we built a great product, but you now must play the way we want you to play and not the way the customer wants to play.
