The server browser: Last chance saloon

If I had to choose only thing that I miss the most about the days before the higher skill gap, movement focused, almost CoD-like change-in-direction heralded by BFV, it is most likely: the server browser.

I'm hoping that whatever they're busy building is, like-for-like, the same server browser that we had with BF4, Hardline and BF1 (Don't know about BFV's...I didn't like it so I didn't buy it / I only played the beta).

Since losing 95% or whatever of the playerbase, I can't find matches under 20ping –I live in London, UK.
SBMM is absolutely butchering the little of this game that I could enjoy...Today has been one long string of non-stop, 1-sided pubstomp matches.

I wonder what catches there are going to be with this server browser –I have no faith in them and am anticipating some kind of bait and switch...with SBMM somehow still being the bottom line.

With MW4 looking rather interesting and Wardogs now on the scene, this server browser is not just the the game's last shot at retaining me and anyone who feels the same about BF6 as I do, but it's the franchise's last shot as well.

200dl/80ul is plenty good enough –back in BF4 days I was on 10dl/2ul, and the game was running perfect. Next?

Hi there,

I'm happy to let you know that Server Browser will enter Battlefield Labs testing ahead of its planned release in Season 5 as part of Phase 3, giving players an early opportunity to try the feature and help us refine the experience.

We are also exploring how the Server Browser can support a more persistent match flow, make it easier to remain with other players between rounds, and complement the existing matchmaking experience.

We will share a closer look at the Server Browser interface and the options available for finding servers as Battlefield Labs testing approaches. For now, here’s what we can share with you on our progress.

Server Browser will provide another way to find matches, but it is not intended to replace the work underway on matchmaking itself.

Matchmaking remains one of the most frequently discussed areas within the community, particularly around match quality and consistency. Our teams are investigating concerns such as matches starting or backfilling with too many bots, significant differences in ticket counts, and players being placed in high-ping matches.

These concerns involve several interconnected systems. Once we have clear findings to share, we plan to publish a dedicated update outlining what our investigation has identified and how we intend to improve the experience.
