The state of matchmaking
It's in a poor spot right now, I feel. There are very, very few times where I play a match and it's even remotely well balanced. The best games in Battlefield are arguably those that end with the victor having < 100 tickets remaining. Those close matches are standouts, times to remember. But that's not how things are most of the time in BF6. I either find myself on a team that absolutely crushes the other, or vice versa. I'd say that makes up about 85% of the matches I play, with only 15% being truly memorable.
It was noted by the dev team that SBMM is used in a lite form, for "team balancing" during matchmaking. But this doesn't seem to be the case at all. As noted above, it always tends to be pretty lopsided one way or the other.
Another downside of this ridiculous matchmaking system is that after match ends, you simply get shuffled into the pool again. Many times, I end up in a match already well in progress, and often times I'm planted on the losing side. It's also happened quite a bit, where I am tossed into a losing match that's already nearly finished, with the team having < 100 tickets left. How is that even possible?
There is a lot of work that needs to be done if a matchmaking system is going to be the future of this franchise. I think we ALL would prefer dedicated servers and full server browser support instead, but it seems like EA/Dice will never give us that option.
